Privacy Policy
Shield Budget Android app, published by RyaLabs. Effective October 11, 2026.
Version française (la version française prévaut en cas de divergence / the French version prevails in case of discrepancy)
1. Who we are
The Shield Budget app (Google Play ID: com.ShieldBudget.myapp) is published by RyaLabs, Geoffrey Gustin, sole proprietor (entrepreneur individuel), 2 rue de la Pongevie, 25310 Abbévillers, France. Contact: contact@ryalabs.fr.
2. Summary
- Your budget data is stored locally on your device.
- No bank connection, no account to create, no RyaLabs server: RyaLabs does not receive your budget data.
- The app contains no ads and no analytics or audience measurement tools.
- Only exception: the optional AI assistant (Pro). If you turn it on with your own API key and after you have given your consent, the data described in section 5 is sent directly from your device to the AI provider you chose.
- The interface, fonts and icons are bundled in the app: they are not downloaded and the app can be used without an Internet connection. The Internet is used for the AI assistant (section 5) and for opening external links.
- Payment for Shield Budget Pro (one-time purchase, no subscription) is handled by Google Play.
3. Data stored on your device
The information you enter is saved in the app's private storage on your device:
- transactions (description, amount, type, category, date, recurring flag);
- budgets (wallets), categories, currency, spending limits and savings goals;
- preferences (language, hidden amounts) and Pro purchase status;
- display flags: the welcome introduction (3 screens, shown at first launch) and the notice about the new version already seen. The introduction does not ask you for any data;
- transactions imported from a CSV file (Pro), saved like the ones you enter yourself (section 7);
- if you set up the AI assistant: the chosen provider and your API key.
This data is not sent to RyaLabs. It is protected by Android's app sandboxing; the app does not add extra encryption. You can erase it at any time with the app's reset function, by clearing the app's data in Android settings, or by uninstalling the app. The app's reset function also erases the AI assistant's API key, chosen provider and consent; you can also remove the key and your consent in the assistant configuration and in Settings.
Android backup: the app allows Android system backup. If backup is enabled on your device, the app's data (budgets, preferences, Pro status) may be included in the backup linked to your Google account, or transferred to a new device, depending on Android settings. The app's backup rules exclude the AI assistant file (API key and sending consent) from this backup and transfer.
4. No bank connection, no account, no server
Shield Budget does not connect to any bank: you enter your transactions yourself. There is no RyaLabs user account and RyaLabs runs no server that receives the app's data.
5. Optional AI assistant (Pro)
The AI assistant is off until you set it up. To use it, you need Shield Budget Pro, must choose a provider and enter your own API key obtained from that provider:
- Google Gemini (Google), via generativelanguage.googleapis.com: terms, privacy;
- OpenAI, via api.openai.com (gpt-4o-mini model): privacy;
- DeepSeek, via api.deepseek.com (deepseek-chat model): privacy;
- xAI (Grok), via api.x.ai (grok-3 model): privacy.
Your consent before anything is sent. Before the first request to a provider, the app tells you exactly what will be sent and asks for your consent. Nothing is sent without it, and you can withdraw it at any time in Settings.
What is sent. For each question you ask (typed or quick suggestion), the app sends directly from your device, over an encrypted connection (HTTPS), to the chosen provider:
- the text of your question;
- the currency of the active budget;
- the list of transactions of the active budget for the displayed period (current filter), each with: internal ID, description, amount, type, category, date and recurring flag. Descriptions contain whatever you typed in them;
- the spending limits of the active budget (categories and monthly amounts) and, when the displayed period is not a single month, the limits for the period: amounts calculated from your monthly limits and the length of the period;
- your API key, only to authenticate the request with the provider.
With Google Gemini, the app also requests the list of models available for your key. Other budgets, savings goals and your preferences are not sent.
Who processes this data. This data does not go through RyaLabs, which has no access to it. It is processed by the provider you chose, under its own terms and privacy policy, as part of your account with that provider (retention, server location, possible use of the data, including outside the European Union). Please read its policy before turning on the assistant, and do not enter information you do not want to share with that provider.
API key. Your key is stored locally on your device, in the app's storage. It is never sent to RyaLabs and is included neither in the app's JSON backup nor in Android's system backup and transfer (see section 3). You can delete it at any time (see section 3).
6. In-app purchases (Google Play)
Shield Budget Pro is a one-time purchase, with no subscription, made in the app and processed by Google Play's billing system. Payment and related information are handled by Google under its own terms; RyaLabs has no access to your payment methods. The app only receives the purchase status from Google Play to unlock Pro, and stores this information locally.
7. CSV import and export, backup and restore
CSV import (Pro). You choose a file yourself with Android's file picker. The file is read on your device by the app: you map the columns, the app detects duplicates and shows a summary before you confirm the import. Imported transactions are saved on your device like the others. The file is not sent to RyaLabs, and the app does not request storage access permission for this.
CSV export (Pro) and JSON backup. They generate text displayed in the app, which you can copy. You alone decide where you paste or save it; RyaLabs does not receive these files. Restoring means pasting a JSON backup into the app.
8. Permissions and network access
- Internet access: used for the AI assistant requests described in section 5. The app's interface, fonts, icons and charts are bundled in the app: they are not downloaded and work offline.
- Google Play billing: used to purchase and restore Pro.
9. Links to third-party websites
The app contains links to third-party websites, for example referral offers, which open in your browser. These sites have their own privacy policies. The app does not send them your budget data.
10. Your rights
Since your budget data stays on your device, you remain in control: you can view, edit, export or delete it directly in the app. For data sent to an AI provider, exercise your rights (access, rectification, erasure, objection…) with that provider. For payment-related data, contact Google.
Under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), you can write to contact@ryalabs.fr with any question or request, and lodge a complaint with the French data protection authority, the CNIL (www.cnil.fr), or your local authority.
11. Contacting us by email
If you write to RyaLabs, your email address and message are used only to reply to you. They are kept for as long as needed to handle your request.
12. Children
Shield Budget is not specifically directed at children and RyaLabs does not knowingly collect data about them. Use of the AI assistant is subject to each provider's age requirements.
13. Changes
This policy may be updated, in particular when the app changes. The effective date below will then be updated. The current version is always available on this page.
Effective date: October 11, 2026.
